imagine a rejoinder of sorts
day one you defied the order
date three you dared to say i love you
i struggled with the best way to respond
and with measure and care
i believed in the pool we created
we swam magnificently against the current
our stroke perfectly in unison
toward a union, wholly perfected
for our taking-on of the planet

this reciprocity and discovery
of the latest jurisdictional differences
has me question the motives
of even your first and most pure,
a usual caveat in contracts (which i neglected) is to protect,
against inure.ment and all the things
unequal and let's face it,
your scale may tip in your favor currently,
if we're assessing all things material wealth,
but baby it wasn't that way when to started,
