Resurrection
we'd stay up for hours laughing at the adventures of our youth, resurrecting perfection in the most troubling of times, and the ways in which we managed to avoid the collision of our big, big dreams from hitting the reality of all that they said we couldn't
When one day you stepped outside
from our forest you couldn't see
Alice left you em.T
scorned i felt from your betrayal
i slipped inside my narrow mind
couldn't track this thing called time
and as the rain it beat upon my face
i waited for a lover's embrace
thought perhaps you would return
we sit now retrospectively speaking about accountability, the physics of love, abundance and having it all, but what's missing is a thorough inventory of all that's left incomplete; absentmindedly you digress skipping over my distress
alarming was the nature of our courtship
couldn't quite keep a lid on the gravity of the situation
and as we floated high above the limits of others
we strayed perilously close to losing our balance;
the pressure of this cabin imploded, but we both
had to catch our breath, because, well, damn, what a view
there was a time when we would have both said this wasn't okay, that to let go would mean the loss of, emptiness inside a decade of our lives together; that to see something through to completion held a powerful, mythic, magical capacity, that endurance would teach us
and that's exactly what i learned here
not to steer, take advantage, or otherwise improperly
manage
the love of my life
